Studies on Genetic Association and Path Coefficient Analysis for Yield and Yield Attributing Characters in Maize (Zea mays L.)

During kharif-2021, the present trial was carried out at field experimentation centre of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higginbottom University Agriculture, Technology And Sciences, Allahabad to assess genetic association path coefficient analysis in forty-five maize genotypes, including one check variety SHAKTIMAN-5 for eighteen quantitative traits. Based on mean performance 45 genotypes maize, grain yield per plant highest case MGC-240 [67.07] [64.87] genotypes. On basis Analysis variance, significant difference recorded all its components indicating presence large amount variability The magnitude GCV PCV Grain Ear height. High heritability 100 weight, height, advance biological plant. as percent Correlation studies revealed that genotypic phenotypic level positively significantly correlated with Cob girth. Path Days 75% maturity, registered high positive direct effect analysis. In 50% silking It indicates true relationship between these traits selection will be rewarding improvement.
